Fuyo-en (Omiya Bonsai Village)

Known as both a “garden of seasonal trees” and a “forest-style garden,” Fuyo-en was founded seven decades ago by a bonsai-loving businessman who decided to leave the corporate world and pursue his dream. The garden is now run by his son, who each day tends the rows of zoki trees, whose appearance changes with the seasons, and yoseue plantings (group bonsai arranged to convey the sense of a forest scene). Fuyo-en works to develop and refine the techniques used to cultivate zoki bonsai, and the result is a garden whose charm changes with each new season.
